Wicked Masterclass & Performance
Our "Journey Through Wicked" event, held at the Newhall Family Theatre, was a dazzling success, immersing our community in the world of Broadway. Over the course of two days, participants had the rare opportunity to engage directly with Broadway talents Jenny DiNoia and Paul Peglar. The event kicked off with an intimate masterclass, followed by a comprehensive Wicked-themed workshop, culminating in a performance showcase that brought the magic of the musical to life. This series not only showcased the incredible skills of young performers but also served as a fundraiser to make performing arts more accessible within our community. The support and enthusiasm from attendees have been overwhelming, helping us to foster a vibrant future for the arts.
Saturday's Kids
Saturday's Kids at Newhall Family Theatre, directed by Donna M. Manfredi, was a captivating event for school-aged children. Featuring lively performances of 'The Frog Prince' and 'Stone Soup' by adult actors, followed by themed crafts, it provided a fun and creative introduction to live theater. Sponsored by Raising the Curtain Foundation, this engaging event fostered imagination and joy in young audiences.
A Celebration of the Performing Arts
At the annual 'A Celebration of the Performing Arts' event at Newhall Family Theatre, children in grades 4-6 delved into the exciting world of theater. In collaboration with the Newhall School District, they explored various aspects of theatrical production, from directing to set design and costumes, guided by knowledgeable local volunteers. Held on October 22, 2022, this event featured diverse performing arts groups from the Santa Clarita Valley, showcasing music and dance from around the world. It was a vibrant display of community diversity and talent, appealing to all ages and supported by California Humanities.
Winter Wonderettes
Newhall Family Theatre's 'Winter Wonderettes' was a festive treat, bringing holiday cheer with classic '60s hits. This nostalgic musical revue, set at a holiday party, featured timeless songs and lively performances, captivating audiences with its blend of humor and heartwarming moments. Perfect for those seeking a delightful journey into yuletide nostalgia.
Sh-boom! LIFE COULD BE A DREAM
Step back in time with 'Sh-boom! LIFE COULD BE A DREAM' at Newhall Family Theatre, a nostalgic musical journey through the '50s and '60s. Presented by Olive Branch Theatricals and Raising the Curtain Foundation, this Roger Bean creation offers a delightful blend of classic hits and charming stories. Animation Showcase
Raising the Curtain Foundation's Animation Showcase featured a collection of diverse animated shorts by CalArts students and offered insights from a professional animator on animation careers.
